Nail Polish Battle 2016: Nude and Grey Polishes

Champanys - Nude // Nails Inc - Green Park Mews // Nails Inc - St Alban's Grove // Essie - Cocktail Bling // Barry M - Chai // OPI - Liv In The Gray // OPI - No More Mr Night Sky

While nude polishes have there place in my collection, they aren't something I prefer especially comparing them to darker colours. I really like the flat, curved cuticle brush on the Essie polish. It is a good opaque cream.

However Liv In The Gray is the winner, a dark grey colour which isn't dark enough to make it mistakable for a black.

Stamping Plate: MoYou - 417 (Xmas Style Design)*

Review-MoYou-417-xmas-style-stamping-plate

This rectangle stamping plate is from MoYou and has 20 single nail images on it. It has a plastic backing to protect you from sharp metal edges.

All of the designs stamped across well, the random splodge on the trick or treat pumpkin was my fault as I got the stamper covered in extra polish. Some of the images are also on the round plate MoYou 94.

Here are a couple of designs I have done using this plate:

Nail Polish Battle 2016: Blue and Green Polishes

Barry M - Sugar Apple // Sally Hansen - Mojito // Barry M - Cardamom // Nails Inc - Hyde Park Court // Champneys - Wisteria // NYC - Water Street Blues // Kiko - Cerulean Blue // Make Up Gallery - Sapphire Blue

I managed to break down this category to two blues and two greens. Wisteria is such an odd colour, I think I would describe it as being cornflower blue. Kiko is very vivid and a great pop of colour.

That said I chose Cardamom as the winner as it is such a unique colour, it is a dusty green toned polish. Lovely formula as well.

Nail Polish Battle 2016: Chrome Polishes

I don't think a nail polish battle I have done up until this point has included a specific chrome category. This year I got a set of Model's Own ones which is why there is a special category this year.

Models Own - Chrome Silver // Models Own - Chrome Rose // Models Own - Chrome Gold // Avon - Peach Frost // Models Own - Chrome Blue // Models Own - Chrome Indigo // Models Own - Chrome Mauve // Models Own - Chrome Cerise // Models Own - Chrome Green

I managed to eliminate the other polishes leaving chrome silver, chrome gold and chrome indigo.

Finally the winner is chrome indigo, I like this one as it is quite a unique shade. I have a few different silvers and golds yet none this particular metallic shade.

Nail Polish Battle 2016: Glitter Polishes

Nails Inc - Silver Road Snow Globe // Make Up Gallery - Precious Gold // Sally Hansen - Bling-tastic // Avon - Dazzle // Chit Chat - Violet // China Glaze - Cackle if you Want to // Essie - Haute Tub

I'm not huge on glitter polishes, so it was quite easy to eliminate a few glitters coming down to the top three. Nails Inc is a great topper, perhaps a little gimmicky in that you have to shake it like a snow globe but still pretty. The other two polishes are opaque in two coats.

Dazzle wins this round because it is particularly appropriate at this time of year. Unlike Haute Tub you can tell at a glace that it is sparkly rather than being almost a blackened colour.

Nail Polish Battle 2016: Holo Polishes

I much prefer holographic nail polish over a glitter or a metallic finish. I am surprised that I only seem to have acquired five this past year!

Cupcake Polish - Berry Looking Good // Freckles - I'll Need Wine // Freckles - French Martini // A England - Polovetsian Dances // A England - Natasha's Dance

It was hard to choose between these polishes, I ended up with Berry Looking Good and Polovetsian Dances because they were so different and the formulas are both fantastic.

The winner of this battle is Berry Looking Good, because it is such a strong holo and it looks amazing even when worn by itself which is something I don't usually do with any nail polish.

Just look at that gorgeous holo!
