Topic Tuesday: Only 10 Polishes from Collection?

With owning over 700 polishes it is difficult to only choose 10 polishes to keep. I think the easiest way to choose would be to look at the winners of my previous nail polish battles where I chose the best new polish to my collection every year for over a decade now. I still can't choose a 10th polish though!

Topic Tuesday: Top 5 Indie Brands

I found this question harder than the mainstream one a few weeks ago. I could have chosen more however AJ Nails Collection, Prism Polish, Danglefoot, Fancy Gloss and Tonic have to be up there in my top five indie brands.

Aj Nails - Venus
Fancy Gloss - Sapphire Shards

Nail Polish Battle: Polish of the Decade (2011 - 2021)

Since 2011 I have gone through my collection and picked out my favourite polish of each year, this post is looking back at the past winners and working out my polish of the decade. I still have all but one of the polishes, Models Own Gun Grey which I used up so excuse the dodgy photo editing!

I looked over my polishes and chose these as the top three;

First of the three to be eliminated is Facets of Fuchsia, only because it is a glitter and I don't like removing those.

In second place is Goth, while I do really like this polish it is very dark and in standard lighting it tends to look black. Whereas in direct light you can tell it is both holographic and deep, deep purple.

Which means the winner of this is In Robe and Crown! This polish is similar to Goth but in all lighting you can tell it is supposed to be a dark purple, when in direct sunlight it has a beautiful holographic flair to it.

Nail Polish Battle 2021: Winner!

Finally today I am working out which polish won the 2021 battle.

The top three polishes were Bow Blinder, Aj Nails Venus and Danglefoot Cyclops.

First polish I eliminated was Aj Nails Venus, it really is autumn in a polish with it's colour shifts.

In second place is Bow Blinder, which has a light reactive finish which is something new to my collection. The reason it only came second is it's a glitter finish and so harder to remove than a cream polish.

Which means that Danglefoot Cyclops is the winner of my nail polish battle 2021. I chose this as the winner as the base is a beautiful indigo jelly finish. The copper flakes go well with it and stand out against the indigo base. I like to layer it over Barry M Indigo to get an opaque polished look.

Nail Polish Battle 2021: Top Three

These are all of the winners from each round;

Bow - Blinder // Barry M - Boysenberry // Orly - Plastic Jungle // Aj Nails - Venus // Danglefoot - Cyclops // Whatcha - Heart of the Ocean

Halving this category was tricky as they are all my top polishes from 2021;

I chose Bow Blinder because the finish was something new to my collection as it is light reactive.

Aj Nails Venus as it is something I have been wearing a lot throughout autumn.

And lastly Danglefoot Cyclops as I really like the colour combination of the indigo base and copper flakes.

I'm still not sure which is going to be the best polish purchase in 2021!

Nail Polish Battle 2021: Purple

Today I am looking at purple polishes, I have added 22 new purple's to my collection which is the largest category in this 'battle'.

Essie - Saltwater Happy // Barry M - Lilac Orchid // Barry M - Palma Violet // Emily de Molly - Rock Solid // Prism Polish - Cortinarius // Orly - Synthetic Symphony // Painted Polish - Right As Rainbows // Quixotic Polish - Morning Glory // Girly Bits - Where My Demons Hide // Aj Nails - Purpleous // Barry M - Plum Jam

As there were so many purple polishes choosing my top three was very difficult;

Right As Rainbows was a surprisingly good polish, it was part of July 2021 rewind Polish Pick Up. It is a cornflower crelly base with iridescent multichrome flakes. I usually prefer darker polishes but this one is quite special and the flakes make it glowy, it has a flat and wide brush and takes two coats for full opacity.

Next is Virginia Woolf which is much more a 'me' shade, it is part of the Moments With Virginia collection. The holographic polish was a one coater and the brush is a paddle shape. Virginia Woolf is a deep garnet shade, more of a berry colour than a straight up red or pink.

And so the winner of this battle is Danglefoot Cyclops, it was so hard to choose between this and the A England. Cyclops was part of the X-Men Hero collection, and the brush is flat and wide. It is a jelly indigo base with copper flakes within it. It is shown below with two coats but I prefer to wear it layered over an indigo polish such as Barry M Indigo as I don't like jelly polishes on myself.
