Topic Tuesday: First Mainstream and Indie Polishes

I think my first mainstream polish was Barry M Navy, or La Femme black in around 1998 and my first indie polish was KPT Color Therapy in around 2013.

Nails: Top 5 Summer Polishes 2019

Summer Solstice was on Friday and so I thought I should get around to sharing my top summer polishes for 2019. If you are interested you can see my summer picks for 2018 here2017 here2015 here and 2014 here.

China Glaze - Flip Flop Fantasy // Barry M - Banana Split // Leighton Denny - Dash of Lime // Barry M - Pink Grapefruit // KPT - Color Therapy

China Glaze - Flip Flop Fantasy // Barry M - Banana Split // Leighton Denny - Dash of Lime // Barry M - Pink Grapefruit // KPT - Color Therapy

China Glaze - Flip Flop Fantasy - A very vibrant peach polish, almost a neon pastel which sounds contradictory!

Barry M - Banana Split - From the 2019 Spring / Summer Gelly release, a good two coater yellow polish.

Leighton Denny - Dash of Lime - This is a bit of an odd choice, but I think it is more wearable than a standard bright green polish. Dash of Lime has a shimmer running through it.

Barry M - Pink Grapefruit - Is another one from the Spring \ Summer Gelly release, somewhere between a neon and a pastel pink shade.

KPT - Color Therapy - I showed this over white above. A neon pink, green glitter with holographic microglitter, also UV reactive as well.

Nails: Top 5 Summer Polishes 2018

Seeing as the Summer Solstice is just around the corner I thought I should share my top summer polishes for 2018. If you are interested you can see my summer picks for 2017 here2015 here and 2014 here.

 A England - Puck A Fairy // Barry M - Passion Fruit // KPT - Color Therapy // Color Club - Mrs Robinson // Barry M - Bronze Bae

A England - Puck A Fairy - This is a stunningly vivid teal holographic polish, in the sun light it really does pop.

Barry M - Passion Fruit - A bright red which leans slightly orange based, would look good with a tan.

KPT - Color Therapy - In the swatch above I used this over white and I think that it really does pop and look more summery over a white rather than the black as shown below.

Color Club - Mrs Robinson - A jelly neon purple polish, these is something about the sun and wearing a neon polish.

Barry M - Bronze Bae - A metallic polish which is gold based, another one which would look good with a tan. Or of course if you are a professional sun dodger like me, works well without a tan too!

Pick n' Mix 52 Week Challenge: Neon + Indie

I was completely inspired by Madam Luck's nails I saw on her instagram, and while I don't think my version worked as well as hers, sometimes it is good to try something you wouldn't usually.

I used Polished by KPT - Color Therapy, which is an indie polish which happens to also be a neon. I prefer it over a black base, and it is also UV.

[swatched over Nails Inc - New York Noir]

Colour: Neon pink, Yellow and Green also very small holographic particles
Finish: Large Glitter Hex, Square Glitter Hex, Micro Glitter in a clear base which glows with a UV light
Opacity: One Coat Shown
Brush Type: Standard
 How Much? 15ml
Anything Else? I haven't used a topcoat in the swatch, it would benefit from one though

I attempted to take a photo of this under a black light but it didn't work so well. WorkPlayPolish has done a much better job at that so if you want to see how good this polish looks then you can do here, just scroll down to the end of the post.

Nail Polish: Battle of Indie Polishes

Last year I didn't have a separate battle for the indie polishes, instead they were in with the holographic's or alternative glitters. I don't have the biggest collection on indie polishes, but these are the ones I have acquired this past year.

KPT - Color Therapy | Ninja - Girly Floam | Hare - Why So Igneous? | A England - Ascalon | A England - Sleeping Palace | A England  - Ophelia | A England - Jane Eyre

And the winner is:
Very difficult to chose here, as much as I really like Ophelia and Jane Eyre in general they look black on the nails, which I do like. However Sleeping Palace is going to win this battle because it is a charcoal lilac holographic which is visibly holographic even in standard lighting.
